Creatine

cratine powderThe nitrogenous organic acid that is produced in the human body and other vertebrates which help to supply energy to the muscle tissues is called Creatine.
It is a compound formed from three amino acids arginine, glycine and methionine.
Creatine supplements are available which are used by athletes to boost the performance and strength. The idea behind this is, it is used as an energy source for skeletal muscles and if more amount is passed to these muscles from outside the performance of these skeletal muscles increases considerably.

It has become the most popular performance enhancing supplement among bodybuilders and athletes. The main advantage of taking this supplement is to increase muscle size, strength, and reduced fatigue of skeletal muscles. It has been shown that this increases muscle mass in elderly also and boosts strength in them.
Majority of the nitrogenous organic acid produced is absorbed by muscles and later converted into phosphocreatine which is required in the production of ATP.

So supplementing creatine increases phosphocreatine percentage as more quantity is available and hence greater energy is produced. Usually it helps athletes who are into resistance training and does not benefit endurance athletes. Footballers, sprinters and above all bodybuilders take it and this helps them in gaining muscle mass faster and also increased strength.
DO NOT forget anyway , that part of the muscle mass gained is for water restrain.

Although there are rumors that it helps in battling fats and reduces fat percentage, but it has not been proved.

People who have muscle atrophy due to neuromuscular diseases have been known to become better because of this substance. More research is required on this particular application. This acts as natural diuretic.
So if you supplement your body with this then lots of water should be taken to avoid dehydration and dysentery. People having renal disease should avoid this substance.

If you use caffeine or drink too much coffee then the benefits of taking this substance will be less since caffeine affects phospocreatine re synthesis.

Food sources like meat, milk, salmon etc contain it naturally. Meat eaters get a lot of this compound compared to veggies.
Creatine content in vegetarian foods is very low and so vegetarians should supplement their diet with supplements. The amount of this after supplementation in vegetarians will be more compared to non-vegetarians due to high amount of absorption in them.

The Creatine supplement is legal and can be used by any sportsperson.

There are three different forms of creatine available and they are :

a. in the pill form,
b. powder form and liquid form. They serve the same purpose but the way in which they reach the muscles are different. Creatine capsules are the costliest. This is the best product available in the market which really works!!
